Today, on Patriot Day, the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service remembers the innocent lives lost, the bravery of those who responded, and the remarkable spirit of unity and compassion that swept the country in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks eighteen years ago. In honoring the victims, first responders, and citizens who stood up to serve our nation, Commissioners joined millions of Americans and participated in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service will hold four hearings on April 24 and April 25, 2019, on selective service policy options at Gallaudet University. On day one, the first hearing will address the potential needs for a voluntary or compulsory mobilization. The second hearing will explore who will be needed to respond to national security emergencies and how we would find and integrate them into military organizations and structures.
