On March 28, 2019, this hearing will explore the options to support an expansion of national service in America, including requirements for new sources of funding, new program models, systems, infrastructures, and/or partnerships.
On March 28, 2019, this hearing will address the challenges of the current national service system in America and discuss options to improve policies and processes, ensuring access to, awareness of, and aspiration for national service.
On February 21, 2019, the Commission will host its second hearing, Universal Service Hearing: Should Service be Mandatory? This hearing will explore whether all Americans should be mandated to serve in military, national, and/or public service.
On February 21, 2019, the Commission will host its first hearing, Universal Service: Inspiring Universal Service Across America. This hearing will explore a diversity of options beyond federally-managed programs that support universal participation in service, such as faith-based, community-led, privately-managed, or state-driven models.
We invite you to join us for the release of our Interim Report on January 23, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Newseum in Washington, DC. The event will feature a conversation on how service can create a stronger America and strengthen our communities, civil society, and Americans’ sense of citizenship. We will also discuss what we learned in our first year.
